A process water system’s cold side is continuously supplied with coolant from a chiller at a desired temperature of roughly 50°F (10°C). The heat is then removed from one portion of a facility (such as machinery, process equipment, etc.) by pumping the coolant through the process.A chiller is a device that uses vapor-compression, adsorption refrigeration, or absorption refrigeration cycles to remove heat from a liquid coolant. After that, this fluid can be passed via a heat exchanger to cool machinery or another process stream (such as air or process water).
