Robotic Surgery

At Narayana Health, finding new ways to offer advanced healthcare acquires immense priority. This mission has made us introduce robotic surgery initially at Narayana Health City, Bangalore, and Narayana Super speciality Hospital, Howrah, Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Kolkata and Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Delhi. Robotic surgery offers Higher Precision, Flexibility, Control, and is Minimally Invasive.

Making Surgery Even Less Invasive
Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center, Bangalore, is at the forefront of several medical advancements and is one of the best hospitals for robotic surgery in India. We are equipped with the latest technology needed to successfully carry out minimally invasive surgery for:
GI surgery
NH Health City is focussed on making these procedures even more effective by continually investing in the latest tools, technologies, and training. With this in view, we have introduced robotic surgery and will extend the benefits further to include the following surgical specialities as well:
Head and Neck Oncology
Cardiothoracic surgery
Otolaryngology (ENT)
Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences- Kolkata and Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah, takes minimally invasive surgery to the next step at West Bengal, using the vaunted Da Vinci Robotic Surgery System. A team of highly trained and skilled surgeons perform a wide range of surgeries. The biggest advantage of robotic surgery is that it gives the surgeon unparalleled control in a minimally invasive environment. Robotic surgery offers higher precision, flexibility and control when compared to the conventional laparoscopic surgery and much better anatomical clarity as compared to open surgery.
RTIICS Kolkata and NSH Howrah, by introducing robotic surgery, focuses on making Uro-Oncology, Gynae-Oncology, GI Cancer, and Head & Neck Cancer procedures even more effective.
Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Delhi houses one of the regions only few Robotic Assisted Surgery Systems in East Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. The Hospital houses surgeons trained and skilled to perform a wide range of surgeries in Uro-Oncology, Gynae-Oncology, GI Cancers, and Head & Neck Cancers. With Minimal Blood loss, lesser hospital stay and smaller scars, Robotic Surgery will become preferred mode of surgery for patients in the region.
Get the advantage of Robotic Surgery
Robotic surgery is a type of minimally invasive surgery. It is a rapid advancement in the field of medical science. Robotic surgery means operating on patients through small holes rather than making big incisions. The biggest advantage of robotic surgery is to give the surgeon unparalleled control in a minimally invasive environment. Robotic surgery offers higher precision, flexibility and control when compared to the conventional laparoscopic surgery and offers much better anatomical clarity as compared to open surgery.
What benefits does it offer to the patients and the doctors?
Surgeons nowadays have been using robotic surgery in their surgical procedures to achieve accuracy and flexibility. Even a complex procedure can be done without much of the difficulties or hassles using robotic surgery in India.
With robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery has become quite easy. The various benefits of minimally invasive surgery include the following:
Fewer complications such as surgical site infection
Less pain during the treatment
Smaller and less noticeable scars
It brings down post-surgical complications such as infections, smaller incision, provides better Cosmesis, and lesser chances of developing a hernia.
It reduces blood loss and trauma.
It allows a quicker recovery.
Yields excellent cosmetic and functional outcomes.
Recovery is faster, you do not have to stay in the hospital for quite a long now.
How is it done?
While the patient is under anaesthesia, three robotic arms and the video camera are inserted through small incisions on the body. The surgeon then sits in front of a computer console which provides him with a 3D view of the operating field and controls through which the robotic arms can be manipulated. The robotic arms have tiny wrists which bend in several directions with increased dexterity and fine manipulation beyond the capability of the human hand.
This is a significant advancement over laparoscopic surgery which allows for less clear vision and allows only rigid instruments to be used therefore reducing the manoeuvrability inside the operating environment.
When is it preferred?
Robotic surgery is gradually becoming the standard of care for certain surgeries especially surgery involving the pelvic organs such as the prostate, bladder, colon and rectum. The surgeon decides based on the condition of the patient & the complexity of the disease if the procedure is suitable for that patient. Robotic surgery has changed the experience of patients as they undergo surgery and over 3 million procedures have been performed across the world.
The advances in technology have made recovery faster. The stay in the hospital has been significantly reduced from weeks to days or hours.
Risks
Though robotic surgery involves risk, they are very much similar to the traditional open surgeries. Some of the risks include infection, allergy, and other subtle complications.
The goal of our team of professionals is to provide the patient with a safe journey through the hospital with the best possible outcome which is why our facility hospital is the best robotic surgery hospital in India.
The centre was established with the support of the Infosys Foundation.

Narayana Health Health for all

At Narayana Health, we are convinced that 'quality' and 'lowest cost' are not mutually exclusive when it comes to healthcare delivery. In fact, we are well on our way to demonstrate that we are not running our institution as just another number-only business, but are attractively placed to create an affordable, globally-benchmarked quality-driven healthcare services model. At Narayana Health, we will continue to trust what has worked for us in the past. We will keep our model predominantly asset-light; we will reinvest our accruals; we will engage with governments for land and help them achieve affordable healthcare promises made to their constituencies; we will rent premises from private owners and create small-to-large clinics within existing hospitals. As a result of this flexible approach, we will commission hospitals, medical facilities, and clinics across the breadth of this country, getting closer to patients and taking the promise of quality affordable healthcare to the doorstep of the country's millions. It is this exciting prospect that stokes my motivation to do bigger and better for the glory of the country that is mine.
